Sulfur Solutions for Industrial Applications

Whether the application is the same today as it has been for decades in the pulp and paper industry, or new technologies and environmental regulations require new ways of solving challenges in water treatment, moleko's industrial liquid solutions provide efficient options in a variety of categories.

Our sulfur based chemistries and solutions coupled with our customer-centric attitude aid our partners to improve their process efficiency, EH&S, and sustainability profile.

  • Pulp and Paper

    Pulp & Paper

    NaHS | Sodium Hydrosulfide Solution

Sodium hydrosulfide is a key compound used in the Kraft pulping process, which is a method of converting wood into wood pulp, the main component of paper.

NaHS is used to break down the lignin in the wood that binds the cellulose fibers together. NaHS works by making the lignin soluble in water so it can be easily separated from the cellulose fibers.

    CAPTOR® | Calcium Thiosulfate Solution

Captor can be used to eliminate or reduce chlorine in wastewater. Chlorine is often used in the bleaching process of paper manufacturing and can be harmful to aquatic life if discharged in high quantities. Calcium thiosulfate acts as a dechlorinating agent, reacting with chlorine to form harmless by-products.

  • Tanning Leather

    NaHS | Sodium Hydrosulfide Solution

Sodium hydrosulfide (NaHS) is used in the leather tanning industry primarily in the dehairing process.

The process of converting raw hides into leather involves several steps. One of the first steps is to remove the hair from the hides. This is done using a mixture including NaHS, which help to break down the proteins that attach the hair to the hide.

The use of NaHS in this process is more environmentally friendly compared to other traditional methods, as it reduces the amount of waste and is easier to control. NaHS can also contribute to a better quality of the leather, as it tends to cause less damage to the hides compared to other chemicals.
